The Supreme Court of India, in a landmark judgment in August 1997 (Vishaka & others vs. theState of Rajasthan & others) stated that every instance of sexual harassment is a violation ofFundamental Rights" under Articles 14, 15, and 21 of the Constitution of India, and amounts to a violation of the "Right to Freedom" under Article 19 (1)(g). Pursuant to section 4 of the SexualHarassment of the Women at the workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal), Act 2013. Following this, Dr. NSAM First Grade College, being committed to uphold the Constitutional mandate has constituted Internal Complaint Committee.
Dr. N.S.A.M, FGC has constituted a Committee against Prevention of Sexual Harassment/ Internal Complaint Committee. College provides an amiable and conducive atmosphere in which students, teachers and non-teaching staff can work together in an environment free of violence, harassment, exploitation, and bullying.

The world is changing and becoming more unpredictable particularly for girls. Self-defence training is one of the most needed for all girls. In view of training girl students to defend themselves from sexual assault as well as random attacks, “Self-Defence” programme was organized for girl students .Students actively participated in the programme.
In many places Sexual Abuse and Eve Teasing in public places have not been paid sufficient attention, specifically against women. In view of that, an Awareness Programme on “Changing the Public Mentality on Sexual Abuse/Eve Teasing” was organised for Boys. The main aim of the programme was to educate boys and also to give awareness on how to curb the incidences of Eve-teasing and other forms of public harassment.

Students staged a Street Play on “Educating Girl Child” to generate awareness among the public and youngsters about the importance of “National Girl Child Day”. The day is observed on 24th January every year to spread awareness about the inequalities faced by girls in Indian society

A talk was organized on the theme “Awareness on Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013”. The resource person was Ms. Inderakala Asst. Prof Dr. N.S.A.M, FGC. She highlighted the importance and significance of the POSH Act 2013. Students were benefited from the session.

International Day of the Girl Child was observed to raise awareness about the rights and importance of girls. On the occasion “Drawing and Poster Making with Slogan” writing competition with the theme “Our Opportunity, Our Rights” was organized on 12th October, 2022. The main aim of the event was to empower girl child to overcome challenges and gender discrimination.

To curb the menace of sexual harassment a webinar was organised with the theme “How to Curb the Menace of Sexual Harassment in the Society – Do’s and Don’ts”. Around 80 students participated in the webinar.

“Self–Defence" training programme was arranged mainly for the girls to provide real confidence that is backed up by mental and physical capability. The resource person was Mr. Chengappa and 19 students participated in the training programme.

A Guest lecture on “Awareness on Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act 2013” was organized under the guidance of Ms Inderakala T.B, Assistant Professor. Students understood their mutual rights, roles, responsibilities and the limits of their behaviour. Around 88 students participated in the event.

“My Voice, Our Equal Future”:On the 11th of October every year “International Day for the Girl” is celebrated to promote the empowerment of girls, to recognize girls' rights and the unique challenges the girls face all over the world. To mark the occasion, the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Cell organised essay writing to put forth student's views on the topic “My Voice, Our Equal Future” for all B.com and BBA students. The idea behind organizing essay writing is to acknowledge and celebrate the importance and potential of girls around the world and to promote gender equality. The theme of ‘My voice, our equal future’, aims to build a world where girls do not face gender-based discrimination and sexual violence. A total of 16 students shared their views in the essay writing activity sent their essays to the committee and acknowledged the success of the event.

“Genesis of Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act”:Sexual Harassment of a woman in the workplace is of serious concern to humanity on the whole. The victims of sexual harassment face psychological and health effects like stress, depression, anxiety, shame, guilt, and so on. On 6th January 2021 “Prevention of Sexual Harassment Cell” of Dr. N. S. A. M. First Grade College organized in house talk on “Genesis of Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act” to educate and give information about Sexual harassment to all the First year B.com and BBA students. Fifty-eight students attended the session. The resource person for this educative program was Ms. Inderakala T.B, Assistant Professor, Dr. N.S.A.M. FGC. She sensitized students about the POSH Act. With this sensitization session, students understood the Act and hence will be able to introspect and change their behaviour accordingly.

“CYBER SECURITY-CYBER BULLYING”To overcome Cyberbullying “The Prevention of Sexual Harassment Cell organised a talk on “Cyber Security-Cyber Bullying” on 22-06-2021 at 2.30 pm for all B.com and BBA students. Ms. Divya K.S, Assistant Professor Ramaiah Institute of Legal Studies Bangalore was invited as the resource person to address students on “Cyber Security-Cyber Bullying”. She emphasised on most common places where cyberbullying occurs such as Social Media, such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok. Students were sensitized about Cyberbullying and its consequences. Mainly students understood social media and its impact.
