The visit to the manufacturing site of Hindustan Coke Beverages was a great learning experience for our students in Logistics & Supply Chain Management. Our main goals were to see first-hand how logistics & supply chain principles are applied in the real world, how inventory management strategies are implemented, and how a large scale beverage producer optimizes their distribution networks. We learned more about the importance of logistics & supply chain management in beverage manufacturing and how it plays a vital role in the smooth running of a beverage plant. We also saw how the raw materials are coordinated in real-time, how the production processes are executed, and how the distribution network is managed throughout the entire supply chain. We were able to see the real-world application of the concepts we learned in class. Things like demand forecasting and inventory optimization, as well as distribution strategies were in action and highlighted how important they are in a fast-paced business environment.
